1. Who you are buying from
Every listing identifies its seller: “TNH” (sold by The Numis House directly) or a named verified Vendor. For Vendor listings, your purchase contract is with the Vendor; TNH facilitates the transaction, holds payment, applies the Authenticity Guarantee, and administers disputes. For TNH Direct listings, your contract is with us.
All sellers — including TNH itself — are bound by the same listing standards, the Prohibited & Restricted Items Policy, and the Returns & Refunds Policy as a minimum.
2. Listings and descriptions
Listings must describe items accurately: country, denomination, date/period, material, and condition. Grades from third-party services (e.g., PCGS, NGC, PMG) may only be stated with the certification visible; self-graded items must say so. Known defects — cleaning, repairs, tears, graffiti, tooling, environmental damage — must be disclosed.
Photographs must show the actual item for sale (stock photos are permitted only for bulk modern material and must be labelled as such). Items over 100 years old display an export-eligibility flag per the Shipping & Export Policy.
3. Order formation
Adding an item to your cart does not reserve it. Your order is an offer to buy; a contract forms when we (or the Vendor) confirm the order after payment authorisation and compliance checks (fraud, sanctions, export-eligibility). We may cancel and refund orders that fail these checks, exceed available stock, or contain a manifest pricing error.
4. Prices and payment
Prices are in US dollars, displayed in other currencies for convenience at indicative rates; the amount and currency you will actually be charged are shown at checkout. Payment is due at checkout through the available payment methods. An order is “pending” until payment clears; unpaid orders are cancelled automatically after 48 hours.
5. Buyer protection
Every purchase is covered by:
- The lifetime Authenticity Guarantee — full refund at any time if an item is proven inauthentic.
- The Returns & Refunds Policy — 14-day change-of-mind returns on fixed-price items, insured transit, and misdescription remedies.
- Payment holding — for Vendor sales, TNH holds the money and releases the payout only after delivery confirmation plus the dispute window, so a refund is always recoverable.
6. Buyer conduct
- Do not attempt to complete Platform-initiated sales off-platform; it removes every protection above and is grounds for account closure for both parties.
- Do not use purchases to launder value (see AML & KYC Policy) — unusually structured transactions will be reviewed and may be reported.
- Feedback and disputes must be honest; extortionate feedback (“refund or bad review”) is prohibited.
- Buying counterfeit material knowingly, or re-listing reproductions without the required markings, is prohibited and may be reported to authorities.
7. Cancellations by sellers
Sellers may cancel an order only for stock errors, listing errors, buyer fraud indicators, or export-legality problems, with a full refund. Vendor cancellation rates are tracked; excessive cancellations lead to delisting.
8. Relationship to other policies
These Marketplace Terms sit under the Terms of Service and alongside the Auction & Bidding Terms (which govern auction purchases instead of sections 3–4 above). The Prohibited & Restricted Items Policy, Shipping & Export Policy, Returns & Refunds Policy, and Authenticity Guarantee all form part of every marketplace transaction.
